A special thank you to Mr. Gay South African for generously supporting disadvantaged pupils with essential school supplies. As we reflect on the significance of this day, we emphasize the urgent need to preserve and advocate for the endangered Nama language, which embodies our rich cultural heritage and history. It is crucial for future generations to inherit and honor this linguistic legacy.

We urge our communities to embrace linguistic diversity and inclusivity, and call on the government to officially recognize the endangered Nama language, ensuring its survival for the few speakers remaining and affirming that languages truly matter!

BACK2SCHOOL INITIATIVE

31 January 2025 - Lutsha Development Organization (L.D.Orh) in collaboration with the Nababeep Police and the Community Policing Forum, and Radio NFM proudly conducted a Back2School 2025 drive in Nama-Khoi Municipality schools. Through this initiative, we were able to donate over 30 pairs of school shoes to pupils in need, ensuring they step confidently into the new school year, making wise choices for their futures.

These donations not only provide the essentials but also help to foster a sense of pride and equality among learners. We believe every child, regardless of their circumstances, deserves to feel just as presentable and capable as any other student—privileged or disadvantaged. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our generous donors, whose support made this project a reality and a success. Your kindness is changing lives and we encourage you to continue your support in empowering our communities.

A special thank you goes out to local councillor Joshua Losper, and the Department of Transport, Safety, & Liaison for their vital roles in making this initiative a success. Your dedication to our children’s future is greatly appreciated!

CHILDREN PROTECTION PROGRAM

30 May 2025 - Lutsha Development Organization, in collaboration with the Nababeep Youth Crime Prevention Desk, hosted a heartwarming Movie Day yesterday at Concordia Primary School, where enthusiastic Grade 3 learners enjoyed the latest Moana film.

This special event was part of South Africa’s National Child Protection Week 2025, observed under the theme: "Working Together to End Violence Against Children." More than just entertainment, the movie inspired messages of self-independence, determination, and resilience, encouraging children to believe in themselves and their potential. “It’s essential to preserve the innocence of our children’s minds in a world deeply affected by Gender-Based Violence, now considered South Africa’s second pandemic,” said Siphiwe Ngcongco, Lutsha Development Org's Program Coordinator and Chairperson of the Youth Desk.

Miss Unseen 2025 finalist, Tessiline Du Plessi, echoed the sentiment, calling on the community to embrace the philosophy that “a child is raised by a village,” and to lead by example in building a safer, healthier society for all.

From calling for improved infrastructure and modernised curriculum to advocating for equality and cultural recognition, the youth did not hold back.

This is more than a programme; it’s a movement to ensure young people are heard, seen and taken seriously. Nangomso ningadinwa - the future is in bold hands.

MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM

17-19 March 2026 - Mental health is not a luxury - it is a foundation. Without it, carrying the weight of life’s responsibilities becomes overwhelming, especially for young people navigating an increasingly complex world.

The Lutsha Development Organization, in partnership with Richie Cloete Consultancy and proudly supported by the Northern Cape Department of Health (Office of the MEC), hosted a 3-day powerful Mental Health Programme at Goegap Nature Reserve park dedicated to young men. This initiative created a safe and engaging space for honest dialogue, growth, and self-reflection.

We also extend our gratitude to Hoërskool Okiep and Nababeep Hoërskool as well as the young men from Conservation South Africa, whose participation, openness, and courage to engage made this programme meaningful and impactful.
To HOTT Company, Richard Theron and Rose Giko, thank you for the nourishing meals and refreshments that sustained both body and spirit throughout the programme - your contribution did not go unnoticed.
